The Wallpaper Scraper Cometh! By the end of the weekend, all wallpaper was gone from this room. My mother claims it looks better. But my mother also tells me I'm special.
Another partition wall removed. If you look closely, you can see the yellow chalk marking where the various bathroom components will go. This room is gonna look good.
Down the stairs - no toilet. Wallpaper scraping has commenced here as well.
Look at all the missing wallpaper towards the front door. Much of the hallway wallpaper was dry and crumbling. It came off without steam.
Opposite view. You can see the scraped wall pretty well. The walls are rough; expect the paint treatment to be "textured."
The bathroom again. The wall will enclose a laundry closet accessed from the hallway. Sinks to the left of the picture, shower to the right.
Close-up of the old wall. Turn of the century electricals for the old light switch. Cloth wires, ceramic insulator.
Back into the bathroom, looking through what will be the laundry closet.
Can we go home now?
Look at that rotten roof on the back porch. It'll probably end up costing a bit more, but I want to restore the entire back porch. Some suggestions were to knock it down and just keep a stoop out back. Naaah. The porch is gonna be a key beer drinking spot in summertime.
Down the steep stairs. Good detail of the outside wall, mid-scraping.
The top of the stairs. You can see the various layers of wallpaper here. Red on top, Green (tan florals, painted green) in the middle, then a crusty brown mud underneath. The mud is actually a VERY old floral print, deteriorated over the years.
Kitchen. Border removed. Looks better already!
Living room. Wallpaper scraped. The walls are actually completely bare now.
Kitchen. Lampcover gone, wallpaper scratched, border removed.
