The House - Putting it all together
..and so the rebuild begins

Kitchen Rendering A potential layout of the kitchen. Designed and rendered using some of that domesticated CAD software. This is looking towards the back door of the house.
Kitchen Rendering A second potential kitchen layout. This one uses an island to gain counterspace and moves the refridgerator away from the door.
The front hallway: cleaned, spackled, looking brighter everyday.
Looking towards the stairs. You can really see the contrast between the spackled walls and the old, dark bare plaster of the stairwell.
The front door. We're gonna widen the doorway to 36" from the current 32" so we can actually get stuff in the house. This is a steel door. We've also got a storm door for the outside so Riley can look out and we can get air.
The living room ceiling - scraped clean and ready for spackle/primer. (or at least ready to have those holes patched)
The kitchen ceiling. The paper and paint have bonded together to form a hardened coating that is best removed with a chiselling motion.
Back down the stairs. The stairwell is scraped. We'll clean and spackle this week.
The bathroom - Tile is glued in, walls have had their first spackle coat.
The poop nook: spackled, tiled. We'll paint here first, so we can install the toilet next weekend.
Question: How do you remove rust from an old tub?
Answer: Use your drill and a sanding disk.
The tub, sanded, primed, and a few coats of granite-texture paint. Imagine this with silver claw feet and some dark green fern stenciling around the bottom.
Another view of the painted tub.
Stinky Stinky! The "paneling" from the bathroom closet turns out to be a cardboard box with a fine wood laminate.
Master of the aerosol.
The tub again. The dark right side is the wall side - you won't be able to see that once it's installed. (Unless you have a very long, pointy head)
A better view of the tub's backside.
The attic windows: Skybox seats for cat spotting.
More wire. White = Electrical, Black = CATV. Wired to all floors.
Let's grout some tile.
The bathroom tile, installed, grouted, ready to walk barefoot upon.
A good shot of the tub area. A nice little spot of sun comes in through the side window during the day.
Another shot of the tile. You can really see the grout here. We went with a sand grout to match the tiles rather than a high contrast option.
A good preview shot of the tile as it will look just before you pass out on your way to the poop nook after your second six pack.
This is what the switch boxes look like as we prepare for the electrical inspector to make his rounds. Everything is labeled, stripped, ready for the final install. One day soon, I'll have new, clean power throughout the house.
