A lot of finishing work

New wall construction in the living room will soon hide all of the ductwork for the ventilation systems along with all the wires.
A wider shot of the new wall. You can see how it will step back in the corner to clear the window.
The work table has been moved downstairs into the kitchen as we work on the first floor.
A new back door. It's amazing what a seemingly minor change can do to a room. The new door is quite solid. It has blinds sandwiched between the glass panes to keep Riley from ripping them off the door.
Those stinky old black rubber treads are finally gone from the stairs. If nothing else, the have kept the stairs in decent shape over the past fifty years. Eventually, we'll clean and repaint the stairs. You can also see that the entire stairwell has been textured and primed. We'll paint when everything is done, since there's still a lot of dirt flying around.
The upstairs hallway has been scraped and the hall floor has been patched. The one missing board will be replaced when the coax wiring is completed.
Back down the hallway. You can see the temporary light now hanging from the ceiling. You can actually use lightswitches and real lights in the house now.
A detail view of the hall floor. You can see the patched boards. Once the floor is sanded and polyurethaned, you won't notice the difference.
We patched a number of holes in the floors, including this one in what will be the master bedroom closet. You can see the chalklines on the floor where the walls will go.
Back in the bathroom, the ceiling is ready for patching and priming. A small section of wall remains to be scraped and we can get set to paint.
Power to the attic is separate from the rest of the house. A second panel was installed on the third floor to distribute power. Once the wiring is completed, this panel will be recessed in the hole in the wall behind it.
The house is wired with Cat-5 throughout. This means computer and multiple phone line access from any floor. We've also hard-wired an alarm system throughout the house. It's currently only running smoke alarms, but in the future, it would be trivial to wire a fully operational security system.
The backyard in bloom. It's still a mess, but maybe it'll be cleaned up by next year.
Peonies in bloom. We've got a ton of these things. If you'd like any for your yard, just ask. We've also got a crapload of roses.
Up front, we've cleared out the mess of weeds. We'll probably dig this out completely and brick it over for a few potted plants. You can see the lovely vines growing back again. Leave even the tiniest remnant and they take root and grow like mad.
Ugly bush.
